ZAMFARA: NNPP Senatorial candidate, others defect to APC

Zamfara West senatorial candidate and three house of representative candidates of the Nigerian National Peoples Party (NNPP) has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors include the NNPP Senatorial Candidate Zamfara West, Alhaji Abdul’malik Adamu, the NNPP house of reps candidate for Anka Talata-Mafara federal constituency Alhaji Mustapha S-Na’Allah, the NNPP Chairman of Talata Mafara local government and Chairman of NNPP LG Chairmen Association in the State.

Other defectors were NNPP reps candidate for Bakura-Maradun federal constituency, Kasim Faru, NNPP reps candidate for Gummi-Bukuyum federal constituency Sunusi Gummi and Abdullahi Aminu.

Matawalle commended the defectors for joining the APC, and assured that they would be treated like any other party members.

According to him, defection of NNPP federal lawmakers candidates to APC is an indication of the party’s victory in the Feb. 25, Presidential and Federal Lawmakers and March 11, governorship and State assembly members elections.

The governor also expressed deep appreciation to people of Maradun town, Maradun local government area of the state for coming out in masses to welcome APC campaign rally in the state.

He urged them to continue to support the APC led administration and ensure that they vote for APC at all levels.

Matawalle described reconciliation between APC stakeholders in the state as a blessing not only to the party but the entire people of the State.

Governor Bello Matawalle said his administration since its inception has been giving more attention to security, peace and stability of the citizens.

If re-elected for second term, He promise to continue to do his best to improve security sector, promote education, health, empowerment and general welfare of the people.

In his remarks, the former governor, Yari who double as Chairman APC governatorial Campaign Council in the State, commended large turn out of APC supporters at the rally.

“We are very happy with what we have seen today in Maradun.

“We are not surprised what we have seen today in Maradun, because is a home of APC and home of governor Matawalle”, Yari added.

He assured that APC if re-elected will continue to execute meaningful development projects across the state.

The former governor of the state, Alhaji Mahmud Shinkafi urged people of the state to vote for APC at levels.

Shinkafi said the former governors of the state are united in one party to move the state forward.

“More meaningful development projects are on the way for the betterment of the people especially at grassroots if APC re-elected at both National and state levels.

“People of the state should also remain united and continue to support government in addressing security challenges”, Shinkafi explained
