Governor of the state, Dauda Lawal, gave the assurance during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held in Gusau. The governor was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada.

According to the governor, the state government remains committed to working closely with the Federal Government, the Armed Forces and other security stakeholders to strengthen security operations, improve logistics and welfare, and enhance intelligence-driven strategies aimed at safeguarding lives and property.

Governor Lawal paid glowing tribute to fallen heroes of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and other security agencies who served the nation with honour and distinction, noting that their sacrifices would never be forgotten and their memories would remain evergreen in the hearts of Nigerians.

He described the annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day as more than a ceremonial event, saying it is a sacred moment of deep reflection on the courage, sacrifice and unwavering patriotism of gallant officers and soldiers who laid down their lives for peace and security.

The governor noted that Zamfara State has, in recent years, borne a heavy burden of insecurity due to banditry, terrorism and other criminal activities. He commended the Armed Forces and security personnel for standing firm despite great personal risks, adding that many brave sons and daughters of the state have paid the ultimate price in the quest to restore peace and stability.

He also expressed sympathy to the families of fallen heroes, particularly widows, widowers and children left behind, assuring them that their loved ones did not die in vain but in service to humanity and the defence of the nation’s collective future.

Governor Lawal further pledged that the Zamfara State Government would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and wellbeing of families of fallen heroes.
