ZAMFARA: Gov Lawal donates N100m, 10,000 bags of grains to flood victims in Gummi LG

The Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Dauda Lawal, has announced the donation of N100 million and 10,000 bags of assorted grains to the affected victims of flood disaster in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.

The governor announced these donations when he visited the affected areas, on Saturday August 31, 2024, to conmesirate with victims of the disaster, saying that his government was saddened by the disaster and would do everything humanly possible to assist them to recover from the incident.

He said a team of experts in disaster management and engineers has been drafted to the area to make thorough investigation, analysis and needs assessment to determine the exact needs of the affected people and come up with recommendations for a lasting solution.

He said all the affected people would be relocated to a safer place with free plots to reconstruct their damage houses with good drainages and water ways.

He expressed the determination and commitment of his government to make sure that the people’s interests are protected in the distribution of the relief materials provided for them.

Governor Lawal announced the formation of a powerful committee under the chairmanship of Alhaji Salisu Maibuhu Gummi, a prominent politician in the area, to oversee distribution of the relief materials provided for the affected people.

He urged the affected people to see the disaster as an act of God.
