As bandit attacks on Zamfara State communities, kidnapping and cattle rustling remain unending, Muslim Ummah across the state gathered Thursday at Gusau Eid praying ground where they offered special prayers, seeking Allah’s intervention.

The prayers session, which included observance of nafilat, was attended by several Islamic schoolers, religious organisations, and students of both primary and secondary schools.

Highlights of the event were, among others, reading from the Holy Qur’an, prayers from selected Ulamas headed by an Islamic schooler Dr, Atiku Balarabe Zawiyya Gusau, and preaching.

Speaking shortly after the program, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Malan Wadatau Madawaki, said as far his ministry was ready to send their students to participate in this type of prayer session when ever it is being organised.

The Commissioner, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Barira Ibrahim Bagobiri, added that the abduction of students in their respective institutions compelled them to allow their students to participate in the prayer session.

He, however, called on all security agencies to redouble their efforts in curtailing the menace of insecurity in Zamfara state and the country in general particularly in the schools

Also speaking, the Chairman organising committee of the special prayers session, Professor Nasiru Anka, said the prayers was organised and held at the Gusau Eid praying ground, considering the multitude number of Muslim Ummah members that was attending.

He said Zamfara State had security challenges and that the only way to curtail the menace was to go back to the creator of mankind, and seek his intervention as, according to him, everything comes from Allah and every believer must know that.

“Since we are all aware that only God can overcome our problems, that is why we gathered children in their thousands to pray for restoration of peace in our state, northern Nigeria and Nigeria as a whole.

“Respected Ulamas within and outside the state have gathered here to pray for Allah’s intervention, because day and night attacks on our communities and our schools by bandits would never allow us to boost the education of our children.

“I want to use this medium to thank the present administration under governor Dauda Lawal, for showing concern on how best they can do to make Zamfara communities sleep with their eyes closed.

“Finally, I will like to inform the gathering that, this type of prayer session will be conducted from time to time, till we witness the end of this banditry activities in our dear state, the Professor concluded.
