The Executive Chairman of Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Commission (SOZECOM), Engr. Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, has been re-elected for the third time as Deputy Secretary General, World Zakat and Waqf Forum (WZWF).

Maidoki, one of 11 deputy secretaries-general for 11 regions worldwide, was elected among others including the secretary general, chairman and members of the world Forum’s advisory board, during the World Zakat and Waqf International Conference 2023 in Kedah, Malaysia for another tenure of three years ending 2026.
The World Zakat and Waqf Forum International Conference, a unique global forum for leaders of thought in the zakat and waqf industry, is an annual event that brings together zakat and waqf industry practitioners, academic figures and Shariah advisers from across the globe on one platform to discuss pertinent Zakat and Waqf issues.
Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, asides being a major stakeholder on the global body, served as a panelist at the 2023 conference before his overwhelming election as deputy secretary general on Thursday October 19, 2023.
Topics of interests discussed during the conference included 1. Zakat & Waqf related to global food security, 2. Zakat & Waqf fund raising, 3. Zakat & Waqf fund Management and Distribution, 4. Zakat & Waqf Social Impact, and 5. Any topic related to Zakat & Waqf.
Maidoki discussed Zakat & Waqf related to global food securityat the conference where Malay, English and Arabic were three official languages approved.
