Cheering news from Zamfara State is that four students of Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State abducted by bandits on Saturday October 14, 2023 at Sabon Garin Damba area of the state capital, are now completely let off the den of their criminal abductors.

Our Correspondent reports that troops of the Operation Hadarin Daji of the Nigerian Army and Metro Joint Patrol (Eagle Eye) carried out a joint rescue operation immediately after the incident and were not done until the four abductees were seen to have been truly out of the criminals’ captivity morning of Sunday October 15.

According to a statement by Umar Usman, the Information Officer of the university, the bandits, when they struck about 08:00pm on Saturday, left with four students from their rented apartment at Damba village on the outskirt of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

The statement said two of the four kidnapped students had escaped after their kidnap, while the remaining two were rescued amidst heavy gun duel between the troops and the bandits.

“The University Management wishes to urge students to either relocate to Sabon Gida which is now well secured with armed security operatives or stay within Gusau metropolis.

“This is because they are more vulnerable to bandit attacks when living at the outskirts especially, Damba,” the university’s information office said in the statement copy of which was handed to Our Correspondent in Gusau Sunday night.
