You’re out of order calling for President Buhari’s impeachment, BMO replies House PDP caucus

Following the call by the Peoples Democratic Party caucus in the House of Representatives for Nigerians to approach their representatives to commence the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has upbraided the caucus for such an unpatriotic call, describing it as a waste of precious legislative time and deliberate attempt to mislead Nigerians.

In a statement issued, signed by the chairman, Niyi Akinsiju, and Secretary Cassidy Madueke and sent to The DEFENDER, the group noted that after a thorough appraisal of the reasons adduced by the House PDP Caucus for the impeachment, it is obvious that key opposition elements from the PDP have yet to fully recover from their banishment anxiety and have resorted to clutching at any straws at sight, even from the most illogical places.

“Otherwise, which other Nigerians other than the crisis-ridden House PDP Caucus, do not appreciate the considerable efforts and tangible steps taken by the Muhammadu Buhari administration to end the insecurity in the Northeast.

“Perhaps we need to draw the attention of the House PDP Caucus to the recent victories of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last weekend’s bye-elections across the country as proof that many more Nigerians appreciate the steadily progressive steps taken by the President Buhari administration to reposition the economy destroyed by PDP’s sixteen unbroken years of rudderless leadership, strengthen national security and rebuild strategic infrastructures for economic diversification.

“It is also noteworthy that the Buhari administration had taken proactive measures to revive the economy of the country to the extent that Nigeria exited the first recession it experienced under his administration in 2016 within a record time, and this feat was achieved despite the militancy in the Niger Delta and the global economic downturn.

“This feat is attributable to the President’s diligent utilisation of resources, focus, integrity, and discipline. Even as Nigeria, along with the rest of the global economies, slips into a recession, occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, we are indeed proud that we are governed by an administration that has put in place deliberate policies and measures to pull the country out of recession before the second quarter of next year.

“That Nigeria is the best-performing economy in Africa, as attested to by the Government of the United Kingdom, should further gladden the hearts of patriotic Nigerians who also deeply appreciate the huge investment flows and empowerment of the productive sectors through the Buhari administration’s Economic Stabilisation Fund schemes.

“We strongly recommend that the House PDP caucus take time off their lingering squabbling for leadership and spoils of office to appreciate that the Boko Haram insurgency has been significantly degraded from its PDP-era when the insurgents took and controlled huge swathes of our territory from where they launched brazen attacks on markets and places of worship.

“We are at the point where the insurgents have been driven out of our cities to far-flung places and can only attempt sporadic guerrilla attacks which our able military have largely curtailed. Who has forgotten how soldiers were running away from attacking insurgents under the slack PDP era?

“Now, it is the insurgents who are fleeing from the coordinated air and ground assaults from our gallant forces while hundreds of them have been killed in targeted raids as the superior weaponry procured for our Military by the Buhari administration begins to make the decisive difference at the battlefronts.”

BMO counselled the House PDP Caucus members to go back to their respective constituencies to enlighten their people about the numerous economic empowerment opportunities being implemented by the Buhari administration and educate them on how they can join millions of other Nigerians to benefit, so they can play their role in the national economic recovery effort, rather than be loitering idly around the National Assembly lobby making small talks.

“Those calling for the President’s impeachment have exposed themselves as clearly out of touch with the real situation in the country. This is the dawn of a brand new country. The Buhari administration is laying the foundation for an inclusive and vibrant economy which will be the toast of the entire Black Race.

“As legislators, members of the House PDP Caucus have a role to play in sensitizing members of their constituency about new opportunities abound in the Emerging National Economy. We should be hearing less of these distractions on impeachment and focusing more on building a new country that guarantees security, peace, progress, unity, and prosperity to all Nigerians irrespective of party affiliation or other identities.”
