Yari spends N216m on scholarship to 2,055 students

Senator AbdulAziz Abubakar Yari has spent over N216 million on scholarship to 2,055 indigenes, orphans and less privilege students in Zamfara State.
This was disclosed by Chairman of the Senator A A Yari Scholarship Initiative Committee, Senator Jijjani Yahaya Kaura ably represented by the Publicity sub-Committee chairman, Ibrahim Dan Maliki, while briefing journalists on the activities of the committee since inception.
Speaking at the secretariat located at bye-pass road in Gusau, the state capital on Sunday.
He said the students spread across all the North West region of the country with 16 tertiary institutions all federal, state and private universities in the region.
Dan Maliki said “the committee undertakes a serious and vigorous screening exercise to ensure that only the viable and targeted students benefits from the scholarships.”
He further said most of the beneficiaries are studying sciences base courses which includes Medicine, Engineering, Computer and ICT etc based on the need of the state.
He reiterated that each student would be receiving 15 thousand naira monthly payment as up keep allowances through out the duration of each course.
He said all the necessary payments has been made to the respective institutions.
He said the committee would continue to monitor the performance of each student to ensure that the students live up to expectations.
He commended Senator Yari for having confidence in the committee to serve and assure him to lived above board.
