The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, has vowed to recovered all unremitted funds held by terminal operators and jetty owners.
She also assured stakeholders that the authority would not relent in its efforts at ensuring optimal utilisation of the organisation’s facilities at all location with a view to generating greater dividends for the country through the seaports.
Unremitted funds now run into several billions of naira. Some terminal operators have been accused of collecting money on behalf of government and spending same without approval from the Federal Government.
The NPA Chief Executive made the statement when the executive management of the NPA embarked on the inspection of the vast facilities of the organisation at Tarkwa Bay.
She identified the possibility of green field development and foreign direct investments at the location especially through the window of Public Private Partnership (PPP) across board.
Similarly, she stated that the NPA management would not hesitate in rehabilitating the Lagos Light House at Tarkwa Bay in order to prioritise the possibility of deploying an Automatic Identification System (AIS) at the location to enhance smooth navigation to approaches of Lagos ports by vessels.
