A member of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Vincent Asor, joined the Friday’s story published in The DEFENDER bursting a fake news against the family of Prof. Emmanuel Victor Osodeke, President of ASUU.

The DEFENDER had published the report of its finding from Prof. Osodeke, which gave him the opportunity to be properly heard against viral photo presenting him as shutting down Nigerian universities while, purportedly, his own daughter Juliana has just graduated from University of Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.

In the opening, the report said, “Attempt to smear the personality of Prof. Emmanuel Victor Osodeke, President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), with allegation that he can comfortably lead his union to shutdown Nigerian universities because his own children school abroad has been foiled. This was as a combined photograph showing an acclaimed female graduate of University of Chicago, United States of America, went viral, simply telling the Nigerian and global viewers a loaded message.”

This online newspaper told its globalised readership that the pictorial post had gone out with a covering note: “This Is Juiana Chidera Victor Osodeke, Emmanuel Osodeke’s 21-year-old Last Daughter Who Recently Graduated From The University of Chicago, Illinois, United States.”

It the published the reaction of the ASUU President to its message seeking the truth, who The DEFENDER that, “All my children are boys, I have no daughter. So it fake and attempt to blackmail.”

Prof. Vincent Asor, a professor mathematics at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, took to the website of The DEFENDER to express his solidarity with the ASUU president saying “We cannot be distracted. We stand with our Predident. We stand with ASUU”.

In his own words, Prof. Asor, apparently addressing authors of the suspected blackmail, said:

“We are used to blackmail. This one is the height of it. This is like accusing our National President of extra-marital affairs. So, Juliana may have been gotten outside wedlock. Shame on all of you propagating this hopeless and baseless lies.

“We leave you in the hands of God (no thanks to Gburugburu). Our National President and his wife, Onome, have four kids. All of them are boys. We know them. We cannot be distracted. We stand with our Predident. We stand with ASUU.”
