US, Israel considering end to self-made Iran war, says Israeli official
Despite ongoing discussions about ending the conflict, fighting continues and officials say the war has not yet reached its conclusion, especially with Iran saying “We warned them bit to attack us but now they want to end the war and we are not ready for such ceasefire or talk of any nature anyone,” an official said.
A senior Israeli official has reportedly said that the United States and Israel are considering how and when to end the ongoing war with Iran, though no final decision has been made.
According to the official, leaders in Washington and Tel Aviv are examining options to conclude the conflict without pursuing regime change in Iran. The official warned that attempting to overthrow the Iranian government could become a “never-ending story,” suggesting that some policymakers favor ending the war once key military objectives are achieved.
US President Donald Trump said the decision on when the war ends will likely be made jointly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump indicated that while the United States would ultimately make the final decision, Israel’s position would play a significant role in determining the outcome.
The conflict began on 28 February 2026 following a joint US-Israeli strike on Iran known as Operation Lion’s Roar. Since then, heavy strikes have targeted Iranian military sites, while Iran has responded with missile and drone retaliations against Israel, US bases, and other regional targets.
The war has also affected global energy markets, pushing oil prices higher and prompting several countries in the region to call for de-escalation.
