It was gathered that the don was shot in the head by his assailants as he made to his house gate at Moniya area of Ibadan, upon his return from an outing around 8:30pm on Monday.

The DEFENDER gathered that his killers, whose motives were yet to be known as at the time of filing this report, took his body away and later dumped it in a location from where it was recovered and had been deposited at UI Anatomy.

His car was, however, said not to have been left behind as the assailants reportedly took it away.

Born on March 6, 1962, Professor Opeyemi Ajewole was a lecturer in the Department of Forest Resources Management of the university.

UI’s Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Communications, Joke Akinpelu, also reportedly confirmed the incident, according to a media report on Tuesday.

Akinpelu, who did not give further information, said, “Yes, it is true. But we are not sure if it is armed robbers or hired assassins. He was killed yesterday (Monday). The incident happened yesterday”.
