Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi categorically dismisses US President Donald Trump’s claim that the United States averted a pending Iranian strike by launching fresh aggression against the Islamic Republic.
The top diplomat made the remarks on X on Tuesday after Trump made the claim to try to justify the aggression that Washington began against the Iranian soil alongside the Israeli regime late last month.
“The claim that Iran was planning on attacking the US or US Forces, whether preventively or preemptively, is a sheer and utter lie,” Araghchi wrote.
“The sole purpose of that lie is to justify Operation Epic Mistake, a misadventure engineered by Israel and paid for by ordinary Americans,” he added, referring to “Operation Epic Fury,” Washington’s so-called codename for its attacks.
Iranian officials have verified hundreds of casualties among American forces after the Islamic Republic retaliated momentarily following the launch of the aggression by firing daring volleys of ballistic missiles and drones towards American targets throughout the region.
Also on Tuesday, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said the retaliation has been followed by US troops’ being rendered displaced in cities across the region as they continue to flee Iran’s counteroffensive.
The aggression was preceded by feverish lobbying on the part of the Israeli regime, which saw prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu even bringing forward a trip to Washington amid widespread reports of his trying to push Trump into waging the attacks.

The Islamic Republic has vowed to sustain the reprisal, which has also successfully struck numerous sensitive and strategic Israeli targets throughout the region, until the allies keep up their atrocities.
The developments came as Trump is reportedly being pushed to come up with an exit plan as the aggression has incurred Washington billions of dollars in avoidable costs, besides resulting in the casualties.
