Troops neutralize 7 IPOB/ESN terrorists in Agbomchia forest Rivers State clearance/raid, arrest 5

“The Nigerian Army urges members of the public to always avail the troops with accurate and timely information that will help in tracking down and neutralise the so-called Unknown Gunmen (UGM) who are terrorizing the region,” General Yerima said.

 

Troops of the Nigerian Army in conjunction with operatives of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday, 27 May 2021, neutralized seven members of terrorist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) during a clearance/raid operation conducted at their enclaves.

Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, Director Army Public Relations (DAPR), disclosed this in a statement he issued on Saturday 29 May, 2021.

The terrorists were brought down in the fire fight that ensued during the clearance/raid operation that took place at Agbomchia Forest along Pipeline Road Ogali/Komkom boundary between Eleme and Oyigbo LGA’s of Rivers State.

Five suspects were also arrested while various items belonging to the criminals including arms and ammunition were also recovered by the security forces.

“The camp was promptly destroyed while the arrested suspects and corpses were handed over to the police for further actions.

“There was no casualty on own troops and other security operatives as they have returned back to base in high morale.

“The Nigerian Army urges members of the public to always avail the troops with accurate and timely information that will help in tracking down and neutralise the so-called Unknown Gunmen (UGM) who are terrorizing the region,” General Yerima said.
