She added that what she described as a misleading media campaign against Malami was beginning to unravel, expressing confidence that the 2027 political contest would ultimately favour the Nigerian people.
A fiery African Democratic Congress (ADC) female fighter, Lauretta Onochie, has said the circumstances surrounding the plight of former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), under the current administration will ultimately strengthen him rather than weaken his political resolve.

Malami returns home on Wednesday, January 7, 2027, amid political tensions, a development Onochie described as a failed attempt by his opponents to intimidate him.
Onochie, who served as Special Assistant on Digital and Social Media to former President Muhammadu Buhari during the administration in which Malami was Attorney General, made the remarks in a statement posted on her X (formerly Twitter) handle.

In the statement titled “AS ABUBAKAR MALAMI (SAN) @aamalamiSAN RETURNS HOME TODAY…”, the former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) alleged that Malami’s detractors had schemed to isolate him during the festive period.
“They connived among themselves and said, ‘We will lock him up for Christmas and New Year so he is not surrounded by the love and warmth of his family. That should break him to join us,’” Onochie wrote.
According to her, the plan backfired, as Malami has now regained his freedom and remains committed to the ADC.
“Well, he’s out now and will continue with ADC. He will not succumb to intimidation, violations of his fundamental human rights, nor will he join the #RenewedHopeCult,” she said.
Onochie further warned that those she accused of orchestrating the alleged actions would face consequences in the future.
“The lawlessness is theirs to pay for in the future. The shame is theirs to bear, forever,” she stated.
She added that what she described as a misleading media campaign against Malami was beginning to unravel, expressing confidence that the 2027 political contest would ultimately favour the Nigerian people.
