The Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on my mind, by Bashir Adefaka

In office as governor, Tambuwal has the three major Nigerian ethnic groups living in  Sokoto represented in his government.  To this end, Megrima Aminu Waziri Tambuwal not only thereby has Special Adviser Igbo, Special Adviser Yoruba but also, without the mindset of show-off, has the kind of humility that is part of why he mixes with his people in a way that he walks around in his state of jurisdiction like an ordinary citizen.

The name Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is one that will not be wished away in a hurry in the history of Nigeria, particularly when the story is told of how Nigeria’s democracy was saved in the build up to 2015 general elections.  It was the reason the “Death by Midnight” of our brother, friend and fantastic professional colleague, Mallam Imam Imam, who was his Special Adviser on Media, had more pains it inflicted on us than thought, being that it denied us to stand Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on stage in the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of NICON Luxury Hotel Abuja on Saturday April 28, 2018 that we had long awaited for as an opportunity to look into his eyes and say “You are a good man!”

But with the coming of Malakul Maot (Angel of Death) calling on Imam, a very dependable ally and trusted aide of seven years with Aminu son of Waziri of the community of Tambuwal, who apart from being governor and former Nigeria’s Number Four Citizen is Mutawalle of the Seat of Caliphate, it became clearly impossible for the brotherly and remarkably practical governor to be on ground on a day scheduled for his decoration as Patron and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Loan and Risk Management of Nigeria (FCILM) at the event organised in collaboration with The DEFENDER Online Media.  So, painful!

At any rate, it is worthy of mention that among few Nigerians of leadership qualities is the man who went through persecutions of some Federal Might, at a time he was Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and Deputy Chairman of National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the 7th Assembly, but beat them all hands down to emerge victorious and remain so.

Rt Hon Barrister Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is an embodiment of respect for self and others, not only in the public but even people, especially the general masses who have been in close relationship with him, have told their stories of an enigmatic, pragmatic and exceptionally charismatic person in the man whose ascension to the Seat of Power as Governor of Sokoto State continues to be described as more of natural than political.

The wisdom that led the Tambuwal’s Team to climbing the gate of the National Assembly, at a time doing so became the only option left “To Save the Soul of the Nation” continues to marvel rational minds.  That is the power of charisma radiating from the personality that is rooted in Barrister Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the embodiment of respect that is friend of all!

A very faith-based and morality conscious leader, when his security protections were withdrawn by those who believed that the powers they possessed were by their own making, the man who became Governor of Sokoto State on the ground of personal popularity unwaveringly pushed on, unprotected, but with consistent belief that “only Allah the Giver and Taker of life is the ultimate Protector” and that whoever is protected by Allah is the one who has found protection and who is not protected by Allah has only risked being in the fool paradise of his own imagination.

On that note, when his adversaries could no longer comprehend how he was surviving their “encouraged onslaught”, whereby people in babariga and turban (just like Gasuat Badru of the days of the Prophet) became unbreakable shield around him, they did not know how they joined in quick release of his earlier withdrawn security protections especially when his victory as Governor-elect made that inevitable.

It is also worthy of note that if those adversaries had been able to find incriminating substances in Tambuwal, they would have used it against him.  But much as they tried to implicate him through an anti-corruption crusade they never activated for once, they ended up being confused because Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is another clean (he may not be the perfect as only Allah is perfect) person that the Northern Nigeria has produced from Sokoto State.

Hardly is it detected that governor is passing until one noticed experience when at a point he had to alight from his car driven by himself and order a breaker of traffic light rules to return to normal position and be a law abiding citizen.

That singular outing alone is enough to tell who a true leader is.  A true leader is one who feels secured being in the midst of his people without a shield making him inaccessible to them.  Tambuwal is one of such species of leadership: Very respectful! Very religious! Very polite! Very selfless! Very considerate! And when playing politics, very highly moral and faith conscious!
