SUSPENSION: Respect party protocols, court order, step aside, Rivers APC urges Ganduje
In a bid to adhere to party protocols and respect a recent court ruling, the faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, led by Emeka Beke, has called upon National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, to temporarily step aside from his position……
During a media briefing in Port Harcourt, Darlington Nwauju, the embattled Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, reiterated the importance of Ganduje addressing his suspension at the ward level or seeking legal recourse to uphold his position within the party.
Nwauju emphasized the significance of party constitutionality, highlighting that according to Article 9 of the APC’s constitution, the authority to suspend or dismiss members resides with the ward executives and members.
Referring to Article 21(3) of the party’s constitution, Nwauju outlined the disciplinary procedures which start at the ward level.
With a high court affirming Ganduje’s suspension, Nwauju stressed the need for him to step aside as National Chairman, allowing the Deputy National Chairman (North) to assume temporary leadership until the matter is resolved or Ganduje is replaced by the National Executive Committee.
Additionally, Nwauju pointed out the moral obligation of the party to ensure representation from the North Central zone in the position of National Chairman following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, urging the party to rectify this oversight.
