Summit University Offa produces 26 1st-class graduates, as it holds 5th, 6th convocation ceremonies Dec 6

Professor Musa-Aibinu, while reiterating the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria-owned university’s commitment to moral and academic excellence, disclosed that the institution remains focused on delivering quality teaching and producing highly skilled graduates.

Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria, says its 5th and 6th combined convocation ceremonies will hold on Saturday December 6, 2025.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Musa-Aibinu, who disclosed this while highlighting the activities lined up during a press conference heralding the all-important academic event, said the events would hold from Wednesday 3rd December to Saturday 6th December 2025, which corresponds to 12th to 15th Jumadal Thanni 1447 AH.

All activities, he said, “are scheduled within and around the university campus in Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria,” but that, mainly, convocation lecture for the 5th and 6th combined convocation ceremonies will be delivered by Dr (Ts’gye) Rachel T. Leslie from the Catholic University of America, on Thursday December 4, 2025 while the main convocation ceremonies hold on Saturday December 6, 2025.

During the press briefing, the VC announced excellent improvement in the quality of products being produced by the institution,c saying “this year, out of the 319 fresh graduates being produced and who will receive their degrees at the ceremony, 26 of first class category.”

Providing a breakdown of the results, he noted that 164 students graduated with second class upper, 108 with second class lower, 25 with third class, while one student earned a pass degree.

Professor Musa-Aibinu, while reiterating the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria-owned university’s commitment to moral and academic excellence, disclosed that the institution remains focused on delivering quality teaching and producing highly skilled graduates.

According to the vice chancellor, Summit University Offa’s students are “factory-fitted,” as he pointed out emphatically that the products, after leaving the institution, are so well equipped that they require minimal additional training to compete more favourably well in the labour market locally and globally.

Professor Abiodun Musa-Aibinu, who let the public into how it is achieving this excellent performance, said that the university equips students with advanced digital skills, including the ability to design drones and other technologically sophisticated devices.

He highlighted the institution’s reputable academic programmes and revealed that preparations are underway to commence courses in the Health Sciences to strengthen contributions to human development.

According to him, several initiatives in emerging technologies have also been introduced to enhance the university’s growth and competitiveness.

The Vice Chancellor announced that the university has secured a provisional licence to establish an FM radio station aimed at enhancing teaching and learning for Mass Communication students.

He also commended the institution’s strong service to its host community and strategic partners.

As part of activities marking the convocation, the university will honour Mrs. Latifat Gbajabiamila, mother of the Chief of Staff to the President, while a posthumous award will be conferred on Alhaji T. A. Olatinwo in recognition of their contributions to educational development.

The DEFENDER reports that the institution’s Maiden Convocation Lecture titled: “Revitalizing the Nigerian Economy, the Roles and Responsibilities of the Youth in the Digital Economy”, was held on Thursday December 7, 2023 during which His Excellency Professor Babagana Zulum, Executive Governor of Borno State, was guest lecturer. He was, however, ably represented by his Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar. Also, the last convocation’s keynote speaker was Professor Toye Falola, at the occasion hosted eminently by the Summit University Offa’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, Alhaji Rafiu Adisa Ebiti, and participated in by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu and other top members of the university.

This year’s edition coming up on Thursday December 6 is said to hold a lot of promises for the students, the fresh graduates and Nigeria.
