Sultan recommends drastic disciplinary action against erring security agents
*Urges Usman Dan Fodio Varsity Council to maintain peace of institution

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged that a drastic disciplinary action be taken against irresponsible and erring officers among the security agencies in the country.
Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar gave this advice when the newly posted Comptroller of Immigration Service, Sokoto State Command, Alhaji Abdul Alhaji Aliyu, paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace in Sokoto, recently.
He said such irresponsible and erring officers should be cautioned against misconduct and irresponsible attitudes towards their responsibility as he said “they are the back bone of maintaining peace and stability in the country.”
The Sultan added that as security agents they were expected to lead by example in the discharge of their duties in accordance with rules and regulations of the job.
He advised security agencies in the country to work together in their bid to keep the country safe, even as he commended them, particularly those agencies in Sokoto State, for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and stability in all parts of the state and assured them full support and cooperation of the traditional rulers in the state to achieve success.
Earlier, the Comptroller, Alhaji Aliyu, told the Sultan that he was in the palace for formal introduction and also to seek for fatherly advice from the Sultan.
He said his mission in the state was to ensure that Sokoto State was free from criminals, noting that it was an aim that could not be achieve without the support and cooperation of the royal fathers and the general public in the state.

In the meantime, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has appealed to the newly inaugurated Governing Council of Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto not to relent in their efforts in ensuring that the institution maintains its position as the most peaceful university in the federation.
The Sultan made the call when he received the newly inaugurated members of the Governing Council of University under the leadership of its Pro-Chancellor, Retired Justice Pearl Enejere, who paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace in Sokoto.
According to the Sultan, the appeal became imperative going by the history of establishing the university that famous founders of the Caliphate Usman Dan Fodiyo is popular in all African countries and beyond for his educational excellence.
Responding, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Rtd Justice Pearl Enejere promised to take the institution to the highest level among the global Universities.
