Sultan of Sokoto sends condolences to Muslim Ummah, Gov Makinde over demise of Amir Ajala, Sunday Makinde

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has received the news of two deaths in less than 24 hours, which befell the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and the Christian Community in Lagos and Oyo states on Thursday January 23, 2025 and Friday January 24, respectively.

He expressed his condolences on the death, which struck at a time between Solatul Magrib and Inshai taking the life of accomplished and renowned Islamic scholar and television broadcaster, Amir Qamardeen Ajala, and Friday with the termination of life of Engr. Sunday Makinde, elder brother of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

About Amir Qamardeen Ajala, the Sultan recalled his tremendous contributions to Islamic Da’wah via the mimber (temple) and television, radio and the social media, as well as the great effort he made at ensuring a hitch free Hajj exercise in accordance with the Islamically laid down rules for the performers’ worship to meet the standard acceptable to Allah.

“His activities had impacted positively on the Muslim Ummah. I can say that he did well for Islam, the Muslims and humanity. May Allah overlook his shortcomings, accept his good work as acts of worship and repose his soul in Al-Jannah Firdaus,” the Sultan prayed for late Ajala.

On the Ibadan’s son, Sunday Makinde, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar told Governor Seyi Makinde to “take heart as the death of your beloved elder brother was beyond all of us. May God grant you and the entire Makinde’s family members including the wife and children of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, Amiin,” the Sultan prayed.

Generally, he expressed sadness for the love of the lost ones, while aso expressing his condolences to both families.
