Sultan of Sokoto declares Monday, August 25, 2025, as the first day of Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH

According to investigation by this global online newspaper, the announcement by Sultan signals that Ramadan, the most revered month in the Islamic calendar, is approximately six months away, allowing the Muslim community to prepare for its arrival.
In an official announcement, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared that Monday, August 25, 2025, will mark the first day of Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH, as reported by The DEFENDER.
This statement was conveyed in a brief release, signed by Yahaya Muhammad Boyi, the Sarkin Malaman Sokoto and Secretary of the Moon Sighting Committee of the Sultanate Council, Sokoto on Saturday.
The statement said, “Assalamu Alaikum. His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, min the Sultan of Sokoto has declared Monday 25th August, 2025 as the first day of Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH.”
Rabi’ul Awwal, the third month of Islamic lunar calendar, holds great significance as it is known for the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
This month is particularly important for Muslims around the world, as it commemorates the Prophet’s contributions to Islam and humanity.
