Stowaway from Lagos found dead in Johannesburg

A lifeless body of a stowaway was Wednesday found on an Arik Air A330-200 aircraft at the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa.

It was gathered that the stowaway was discovered by engineers of the South African Airways technical crew who were to carry out routine checks on the aircraft.

He was found in the main wheel well of the aircraft which departed Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos at 3:55pm on Tuesday and arrived Johannesburg shortly before 11pm.

The identity of the stowaway was yet to be disclosed by press time.

Spokesman of Arik Air, Mr. Ola Adebanji confirmed the development, saying investigations were ongoing to determine how the stowaway found his way into the aircraft’s main wheel well from Lagos.
