Sokoto Agric Programme boosts with 93 new hands, promotes 34 staff

The administration of Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in Sokoto State continues to shine as its effort to lift the state’s economy through agriculture, crafts and trades improves daily.

Lately, the Sokoto Agricultural Development Programme (SADP) that is one of the tools with which the governor used relentlessly to re-engineer the state to being the most developed state in the North, just as it is comfortably the most politically stable society in Nigeria, has employed 93 extension workers, while 300 others are to be recruited next year.

This is just as 43 staff of the programme have been promoted.

SADP Project Manager, Abubakar Malami who  disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Sokoto, said the moves were  to boost the workforce for enhanced service delivery.

The Manager added that they have a target of 1 extension worker to 400 farmers.

Malami explained that out of those promoted ,28 were senior staff and six junior staff.

According to him, 41 SADP staff had benefited from training and retraining programme under the present administration in the state while another batch of 50 would also undergo training before the end of this year.

He said SADP covers the 23 local government areas  of Sokoto and stated their commitment towards provision of farm support services for the benefit of farmers across the state.

The DEFENDER recently reported how the government and sultanate in Sokoto are collaborating in what has today seen the nation’s most peaceful state to be the hub for economic activities as it is now a place to visit for investors and other business interests to which security and peaceful environment are factors.
