Sen Yari to build all houses destroyed in Zamfara flood disaster

Senator AbdulAziz Yari, former Governor of Zamfara State, has revealed that he will rebuild the houses destroyed by the flood in Gumi town, headquarters of Gumi Local Government Area in his constituency.
Yari, representing Zamfara West Senatorial District at the Senate in Abuja, also donated 15 trucks of grains of food to victims of the disaster.
He made the pronouncement when he visited the Emir of Gumi, Justice Lawal Hassan Gumi, to commiserate with the victims and Gumi Emirate on Wednesday August 21, 2024.
According to him, the grains comprised five trucks of maize, five trucks of rice and five trucks of millet.
The Senator further donated 5,000 mattresses and 10,000 blankets to the victims.
He stated that his committee set up to ascertain the level of damages by the flood in Gumi town will soon handed over the donation to Gummi emirate for an onward distribution to the beneficiaries.
Senator Yari express his determination to rebuild the houses destroyed by the flood in Gummi town the headquarters of Gummi local government in his constituency.
He told the emir that the committee under his office will work assiduously to ensure only those affected will be assisting to rebuild their houses .
He appealed to wealthy individual in the state to assist the victims of flood in Gummi town at this trying time.
Yari who described the incident as an act of God, urged people in the local government to desist from making building on the water ways for their safety.
Responding, the emir of Gummi Justice Lawal Hassan Gummi commended senator Yari for the concern to his constituents, pledged judicious distribution of the assorted grains donated to the victims.
Report indicates that over 3,000 houses have been destroyed by flood in Gumi town and its environs as a result of heavy downpour last Friday August 16.
