Seized $43m: Osinbajo panel quizzing suspended National Intelligence Agency boss

The three-man presidential panel probing the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the $43.4 million hauled from a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos is currently quizzing the suspended Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke.

President Muhammadu Buhari had Wednesday suspended Oke sequel to the claim made by the NIA to the fund found by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This is Oke’s second appearance before the panel headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. He had appeared before the committee shortly after his suspension last week.

The panel is investigating the circumstances in which the NIA came into the possession of the funds, how and by whose or which authority the fund was made available to it, and whether or not there had been a breach of the law or security procedure in obtaining custody and use of the funds.

The panel, comprising the National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, is expected to submit its report to the President next Wednesday.
