SALLAH DAY ATTACKS: Despite being in court, Iseyin pastor, his son soldier still bullying, threatening us, Muslim victims cry out

By KEMI KASUMU

Victims of Sallah day attacks by pastor of an Iseyin, Oyo State church, Stephen Kolawole, and his soldier son, Damilola Stephen, who launched a “military” backed brutality on Alfa Abdul Azeez Sulaiman and his two veiled wives precisely on June 16, 2024, are currently crying to Nigerians to hear them out.

They said the pastor, his soldier son and his co-soldiers are threatening them to withdraw their case from the court or “be finished” by them.

This was happening, according to our investigations, despite that the matter is in court and Oyo State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) sanctioning Pastor Stephen who is of  the Christ Apostolic Church, for attacking the Muslim family in Iseyin during the EId-el-Kabir festival.

A viral video had captured soldiers 17 in number pouncing on Alfa Sulaiman and his two wives in veil as the two women were dragged to the church’s stairs, front of the Muslim family’s home, and inflicting cuts on the heads on a day Muslims globally should be treated with respect for celebrating their religious festival.

Both CAN and various otger religious groups have condemned the shameful act of the pastor, soldier son and members of his church on the said day.

The pastor, against whom there had always been complaints of overbearing disturbances of people in their sleep, had obstructed Abdul Azeez Sulaiman who brought his ram to the front of his house to slaughter and he said he could not slaughter ram because it was facing his church.

The matter, per adventure, was charged to a magistrate court by the police and the case has since been adjourned from June to September 27, 2024 for what we gathered was the magistrate’s belief for both parties to reconcile in the obviously criminal matter.

The pastor, according to legal experts, taking advantage of his son being a soldier, illegally mobilised soldiers of the Nigerian Army, first three including his son and then reinforcement followed to make 17 in number from the barracks in Iseyin, to carryout the invasion and attacks on religious hate ground, it was gathered.

Representatives of the victims, who visited from Iseyin and Igbeti, Oyo State, narrated the current ordeal of the family to journalists, during a press conference also addressed by Muslum Rights Concern (MURIC)’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in Lagos, on Wednesday July 24, 2024.
