The Russian authorities are discussing the extension of the mechanism of fixed domestic prices for mineral fertilizers in Russia by the end of this year, a source in the Industry and Trade Minister told TASS.

That said, Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko considers it possible to extend the freezing until July 2023, a representative of her press service told TASS.

“Yes, this question is currently being discussed with interested companies and departments,” the ministry said when asked about extension of freezing for this year. Now the prices are fixed by the end of May.

Meanwhile, Abramchenko suggests that fixing domestic prices and quotas for carrying mineral fertilizers should be extended for 2022-2023 agriculture year (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023).

“Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko supports the extension of fixing prices and quotas on carrying mineral quotas. Considering the present economic situation, the farmers’ demand for fertilizers for fulfilling the strategic task of agriculture production growth, Deputy PM considers it possible to extend the mechanism for autumn and spring sowing of the next agriculture year,” the press service said.

Producers of mineral fertilizers decided last July to curb prices for their products for farmers by the end of 2021, later the plans to extent fixation of prices by the end of May 2022 were announced.
