Rivers Golden Jubilee: Sultan leads other Nigerian monarchs to Port Harcourt

*Advises Muslims in state to be peaceful

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III and other prominent monarchs in Nigeria, on Tuesday, arrived Rivers State for this year edition of Traditional Rulers’ Day, scheduled for Dr. Obi Wali International Conference Centre, in the state capital city of Port Harcourt.

A gathering of prominent Nigerian monarchs in Rivers is also part of activities to mark the Golden Jubilee celebration of a state which prides itself as the Treasure Base of the Nation.

The Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), upon return had an interactive session with Muslims in Rivers State where he asked them be at peace with everybody and not be part of anything that would bring instability to the state.

Sultan Abubakar, who is fourth most influential monarch in Africa and 22nd most influential Muslim in the world, during the meeting with Muslims in Port Harcourt, the state capital, asked them to pray for the success of the government as according to him if the government succeeds the people would benefit.

“Now that the noise of the campaigns are over, support the leader to succeed.  If the leader succeeds, the community benefits; if the leader fails, the community suffers the consequences,” the monarch said.

The Nigeria’s unarguably number one monarch asked Rivers State Muslims to ensure peaceful coexistent with others, pointing out that the interactive session was initiated for fraternal reasons.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Niger Delta Development Commission, Mohammed Aribitonye, thanked the Sultan for his visit to the state.

He expressed optimism that the meeting would uplift the spirit of Muslims in Rivers State, adding that Governor Wike is committed to promoting religious harmony.
