Rhodes-Vivour lampoon APC over rumour to join Tinubu’s party

*Says, 'They are a congregation of jesters’

By OUR REPORTER, Lagos

Fiery indigenous Lagos State politician and Governorship Candidate of Labour Party (LP) for 2023 in the Centre of Excellence, Architect Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has given the All Progressives Congress (APC) what many describe as worst heat of their propaganda years.

Description of image

They say this is so as it has been their tradition since they have been engaging in providing information to those who care to take their lies hook, line and sinker, even as their deceivers know that is simply a deliberate though unhealthy politicking taken too far in a bid to weaken opposition to their own favour, politically.

This, according to one of the respondents, is their own interpretation of words “the Popo Aguda Lagos Island strong man, himself, used to qualify the APC propagandists when, while refuting their lies, he simply described them as a ‘congregation of jesters’ saying the news is false.”

According to a video posted via his X social media network and watched by The DEFENDER Wednesday November 20, 2024, the “unruffled, youthful and ever standing Lagos politician”, the respondents apparently eulogized Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour to be, categorically denied the rumours of him planning to defect to the APC.

This globalized online newspaper reports that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour had been widely reported to be contemplating to join the ruling APC to advance his chance of making it to Alausa come 2027, but he swiftly turned those rumours to shreds exposing their authors to Lagos and the entire Nigerian people as dreamers unrealistic.

Rhodes-Vivour has instead accused the APC of plotting to tarnish his image with a smear campaign, designed to distract from the party’s failure to address pressing issues in the state.

In his video broadcast he said, “The news making the rounds that I’m about joining the APC is false. I have no reason to join the gathering of the wicked or fellowship in the congregation of jesters.

“Just like I have done since the beginning of my political career, I stand firmly with the people who deserve better than what the APC has delivered over the last 24 years,” he wrote on Wednesday via his X handle.

This development follows a recent controversy surrounding Rhodes-Vivour’s comments, which some argue demonstrate hypocrisy within the Labour Party.

The party had previously criticised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for suggesting that Governor Alex Otti should come back to the APC, while applauding Rhodes-Vivour’s vow to take over power in Lagos in 2027.

Our investigation with his political camp revealed that although they are not against dyamism but that APC is certainly not the party of choice.

One of them, who spoke under condition of anonymity said, “Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is from a family that is well known in Lagos and that family is that of judges and lawyers who are not pushovers.

“Whatever political decision he will ever make will always be in the overall interest of Lagos State indigenes and other Nigerian citizens who are not just residents but are also doing their legitimate business in Lagos. That you can take to the bank from me,” he told OUR REPORTER in Alimosho Wednesday afternoon.
