Remains of former President Shagari buried in own Shagari modest residence
*As President Buhari visits Sunday
*Leaders asked to learn from Shagari’s modest life
The remains of former President Shehu Shagari, who died at the National Hospital Abuja on Friday was buried Saturday afternoon at his own modest residence in Shagari town of Sokoto State.
The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal was among those who received the remains at 1pm at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto.
The body of the late President arrived Shagari at around 2:17 pm in a military ambulance and after it was interred, the military surrounded the grave and performed the gun salute.
Shagari was interred at about 3:25pm after a funeral prayer was led by Professor Shehu Galadanci of the National Mosque, Abuja.
The Federal Government delegation was led by the Secretary to the Government of Federation, Boss Mustapha.
However, it was gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari, will visit Sokoto on Sunday to condole with the family of the late former President, whom he overthrew in a coup on December 31, 1983.
In the meantime, leaders particularly those in politics have been called upon to see the modest life lived by former President Shagari as a example of the reality of life of this world.
