RAMADAN: Ex-Gov Yari flags off distribution of 358 trucks of food items to 250,000 households in Zamfara

Former Governor of Zamfara State abd currently senator representing Zamfara West at the Nigerian Senate, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has flagged off distribution of 358 trucks of assorted grains to 250,000 families in the core-Northern state.

Speaking during the event at Galadima Ward in Talata Mafara Local Government Monday, he said each local government was to receive 25 trucks while Gusau Local Government would get 33.

Senator Yari Abubakar, who was represented at the event by Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, said “in each of the 14 local government and the 147 wards, 17,000 families are to benefits from the Ramadan package.”

He said the gesture had no political undertones as every citizen irrespective of political party would benefit.

He further explained that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure the package got to the intended beneficiaries across the state, adding that sharing Ramadan packages to Zamfara State people especially the less privileged ones had been on for five years.

He, however, warned committee members saddled with the responsibility of sharing the packages against diversion, saying anybody caught diverting or shortchanging any beneficiary would not be spared.

In his remarks, Chairman of Zamfara West Distribution Committee, Hon. Muttaka Rini, thanked Senator Yari Abubakar for the gesture and pledged to ensure that his committee would carryout its assignment without fear or favour.

He said the items to be distributed included rice, millet, maize guinea corn.
