Probed further he said, “Yoruba adage says ‘O nsemi o tun ngbami (meaning you cause my challenges and still act as my rescuer). What is hidden in the fact that President Tinubu is the one who forced Obasa on the Lagos State House of Assembly? Did 36 of the 40-member Assembly not impeach Obasa on the grounds of allegations bothering on corruption, high-handedness and abuse of office? Did EFCC arrests to prosecute him on the allegations under a Federal Government that claims to be deeply rooted in fight against corruption?”
What, in Yoruba parlance, is described as “o nsemi o ngbami” (meaning you cause my challenges and still act as my rescuer) was seen in practical term on Wednesday March 12, 2025 when The DEFENDER was hinted in confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was going to meet Lagos State House of Assembly members “after the deed had been done.”

Asked what the done deed was, the anonymous said, “President Bola Tinubu who was behind the crisis that erupted from forceful reinstatement of Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa as Speaker of the state Assembly is to meet the injured lawmakers, especially the indigenes that still feel profoundly shortchanged by the action, in Abuja.”
This global online newspaper, in further findings, confirmed that a meeting was actually going to be held and would be presided over by Tinubu which some of his supporters called presidential intervention but which the anonymous said cannot be intervention but an act of adding salt to the surface of an existing injury.
Did EFCC arrests to prosecute him on the allegations under a Federal Government that claims to be deeply rooted in fight against corruption?
“Is Lagos State not Tinubu’s acclaimed state Constituency? What happened to elders in the state when Chief Segun Osoba and Chief Bisi Akande had to be brought from outside the state from their own respective Ogun and Osun states to do what they call intervention and where they lured the members to believing that Obasa would return and resign? Where was the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) led by Octogenarian Prince Tajudeen Olusi kept that those politically selected indigenous elders were not considered to be fit enough to solve the problem of their own state by themselves?
“Now the moment after Obasa’s forceful reinstatement and those strangers meeting with non-indigenes dominated Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) ensured resignation of indigenous Speaker Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, the APC brought out a joker that Obasa’s resignation was not in the agreement reached at the meeting it held. Case closed. Now, the major commander of that drama, President Tinubu, is now said to be intervening by holding a meeting with the Assembly members inside the Aso Rock he currently occupied in Abuja. How can you do me and claim to be my rescuer? If the person deceiving me does not know that he dies, I that am being deceived know,” he said.
An official source, however, said as at the time of filing this report on Wednesday that while it is true that President Bola Tinubu was scheduled to meet with Obasa and the Lagos State House of Assembly members, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, he could not confirm if the meeting had started.
But a media source said already the reinstated Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, had arrived at about 2:50 pm while his colleagues had earlier arrived in two coaster buses.
It said the meeting might not be unconnected with the recent leadership crisis in the State House of Assembly.
Obasa was impeached by majority of his colleagues but he was later reinstated after the intervention of the political leaders especially the Governing Advisory Council, GAC.
Despite the Speaker’s reinstatement, it was gathered that the bad blood as a result of his impeachment is yet to be over.
