By KEMI KASUMU

“Everyone who knows Mallam Nasir El-Rufai even from a distance, knows how very close and attached he was to his mother and the bond of affection and love they both shared.”

Dr. Uche Diala, a public affairs analyst and convener of Progressive Roundtable, has described the passing of mother of former Governor of Kaduna State Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai as a sad one, especially when it was learnt that her worsened upon hearing about detention of her son by the Tinubu government.

In a post Friday night titled, “DAY 41: MAMA PASSES ON”, Dr. Diala said, “Today makes it 41 days since Mallam Nasir El-Rufai willfully submitted himself for accountability and 41 ones days since he has been held in detention.

“Today, we received the sad news of the passing on to eternal glory of the mother of Mallam, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai. Her death comes barely few days after the extended El-Rufai family lost another member of their family – both while Mallam is incarcerated.

“Everyone who knows Mallam Nasir El-Rufai even from a distance, knows how very close and attached he was to his mother and the bond of affection and love they both shared.

“There is no doubting the fact Mama’s death will deal him a heavy blow especially as he was unable to be by her side in her final moments and furthermore as he would be unavoidably absent at her burial – not by choice but because he is being held against his will.

“In any case, in everything, we give thanks to almighty God. Mallam and the entire and extended El-Rufai family should be consoled by the fact that Mama lived a fulfilled long life worthy of emulation.

“We, as friends, associates and compatriots are deeply grateful to God and to Mama for giving us and raising a man of exceptional character and candour, who millions, including many around the world look up to as a role model, mentor, leader, teacher and benefactor.

“As we pray for the peaceful rest of the reposed soul of Mama, we equally pray that God will comfort and strengthen Mallam and the entire family, especially at this most trying time and grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“The Mallam Nasir El-Rufai Global Family and all El-rufaists continue to stand in solidarity with Mallam – in happy times as well as in sad times – like the one he is in currently.

“May Allah (SWT) forgive Mama her shortcomings and grant her Al Jannah Firdaus. Amen.

“Please Note: Anyone who wishes to pay a condolence visit to the family can quietly do so from 11am tomorrow morning at the Aso Drive residence.”
