“Now, going by Atiku’s latest statement, he and General Abubakar are talking which, I must tell you, is definitely for the selfish interest of the few elites that President Buhari has now, by his re-election victory, permanently dislodged from their age long grip on ownership of Nigeria. We can only sound clear warning to Atiku and all of those working and wrongly advising him against this successful election to stay clear, because over 15 million Nigerians with their candidate legally in power cannot be threatened by some 11 million people whose interest we all know is to continue to make themselves rich and richer, even when it means selling Nigeria out to their foreign partners who will then turn Nigeria to Syria, Palestine and Rwanda in event anybody comes their way, which they tried to do by making statements to divide Nigerian military itself by calling on the soldiers to disobey their Commander-in-Cheif, while they continue to make us the poor masses poorer”, Atiku and PDP have been warned.
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has described Saturday’s Presidential poll won by President Muhammadu Buhari as the worst election the country has held in over 30 years.
Atiku, at a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja also said all hope was not lost, in spite of the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of Saturday’s election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“For my fellow Nigerians who feel angry, disillusion and let down by the process, I appeal to you to remain calm and steadfast, Rome was not built in a day.
“We have the real figures, we have the facts that have spoken so loudly on Saturday, February 23, 2019. As I have always said, this year is my three decades in Nigeria’s struggle for democracy, and this is the worst election in those 30 years.
“I told Gen. Abdsulsalami Abubakar two nights ago when he called me that not even the military conducted such a worst election. This is a long journey but I am confident of victory. All hope is not lost, stay strong. By the grace of God we shall triumph,” he said.
Abubakar said that “Democracy is the government of the people and by the people only when the people’s choice prevails”.
He alleged that on the election day, Nigerians witnessed the implementation of grand theft of the people’s will.
He said that in Akwa Ibom for instance, the result showed a statistical impossibility of a 62 per cent drop in voters’ numbers from the 2015 elections, even where voter registration and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collection rates were much higher.
“This is why voter suppression took place.
“This pattern was repeated in strongholds of PDP including in states like Delta, Rivers, Abia and Benue States.
“As this was occurring, we saw another statistical impossibility where the real numbers tallied in numbers increased astronomically in Borno State by an almost miraculous 82 per cent in the midst of insecurity.
“This pattern was also repeated in other strongholds of the APC states.
“One begins to ask if insecurity is conducive to higher voter turnout and security is antithetical to high voter turnout,” he said.
Atiku said that it was curious that the PDP’s margin of victory in states outside the South/East and South/South were extremely slim across board, describing it again as a statistical impossibility.
He said that the figures declared by INEC as results of Feb. 23 elections “do not add up at all’’.
“My dear Nigerians, it is for this reason that I Atiku Abubakar reject the result declared by the INEC which declared Muhammadu Buhari as duly returned by the majority of the lawful votes.
“I am conferring with not just my party but also Nigerian people on the next step which will be revealed to the public shortly,’’ he said.
He, however, urged the international investors and friends of Nigeria not to poll out of the country.
In the meantime, a respondent, who reacted to the Atiku’s statement, said: “All along we have believed that the whole idea of the National Peace Committee headed by the former Head of State General Abdulsalaam Abubakar is that, it did its peace accord hoping that the election, considering the PDP Dubai meeting resolutions, would turn against President Muhammadu Buhari. It was the reason they were emphasising the need for all parties to accept whatever would be the outcome of the election and whoever would emerge.”
He said: “One of the justifications for this is that, the only among the parties that has breached the peace accord with all the lies, the violence and money laundering as well as clear cases of vote-buying/bribery of electoral officers have been the PDP and its presidential candidate but, have you ever seen this peace committee make a comment against them?
“The other time I said the National Peace Committee was working for PDP, some people went against me. But how do you describe a committee claiming to be fair and neutral in such an accord but whose secretary, Bishop Matthew Kukah, is a governing council member of Atiku’s American University of Nigeria? Don’t forget that Atiku refused to honour invitation to the signing of the accord claiming he was not invited although he was countered publicly by same Kukah who said he was duly invited. It was a plan to make sure Atiku would not be part of the peace accord because they knew what had been prepared on ground for Atiku to forcefully get to office as president including the Onnoghengate.
“Don’t forget that Atiku and PDP had issued several lies including the claims that President Buhari owned the Keystone Bank that was sold by PDP government of Jonathan but which turned out to be false. But the same Atiku was told how he benefited from slush funds of Bank PHB which ran it bankrupt leading it to Keynote Bank. Atiku initially denied but when he was confronted with cheque evidence of the N156 million he took and which he did not pay back to the bank, he kept quiet and the Peace Committee failed to make a comment.
The respondent said he would be surprised if Atiku would obey the accord he signed, saying it was never in the blood of any PDP’s person to obey the law not to mention an accord, even though, he said, when an agreement is signed it becomes a law.
