President Buhari expresses outrage, sadness over killing of Ahmed Gulak in Imo

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed outrage and disgust over what he called “the heinous murder of Adamawa politician Ahmed Gulak in Owerri, Imo State by yet to be identified gunmen.”

Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this in a statement sent to The DEFENDER on Sunday.

Reacting to the development on Sunday, the President said: “I’m repulsed by such premeditated and gruesome murder of Gulak by evil people who are determined to undermine the peace, unity and territorial integrity of our country.

“Let me warn however that nobody or group of people who engages in such despicable acts should expect to go free. We will deploy all resources at our disposal to ensure that such callous and criminal elements are brought to justice.”

Finally, President Buhari expressed his “deep condolences to the family of the deceased, the people and government of Adamawa State as well as his friends and associates all over the country.

The DEFENDER had earlier reported sources arguing that the use of ‘unknown gunmen’ for Gulak’s murder when the killers are known to be members of terrorist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is uncharitably misrepresenting the obvious.

Leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu was said to have issued a no-movement order days ahead of the killing of Gulak and Nigerians who have reacted to the sad development are asking questions as to why South East governments allow the no-movement order of a terrorist leader be active at all times.

It will be recalled that Governor of Abia State Ikpeazu, despite the open evidences, said as far as is he is concerned there is no IPOB in Abia State, which was being interpreted as an agenda of the South East governments to use IPOB under the disguise of ‘unknown gunmen’ to cause chaos in the country.
