The Delta State Police Command has arrested 11 additional suspects in connection with alleged incidents of sexual assault in Oramudu Quarters, Ozoro, bringing the total number of persons in custody to 15.

This development follows earlier reports of disturbing assaults in the community, which prompted an intensified investigation by the police.

According to the Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, directed the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) to carry out a comprehensive probe into the incident. Acting on the directive, the team analyzed video footage and gathered intelligence that led to the latest arrests.

Among those apprehended are Samson Atukpodo, Steven Ovie, Ugbevo Samson, Afoke Akporobaro, and Evidence Oguname, alongside six others whose identities were not immediately disclosed.

Police authorities stated that preliminary findings suggest the acts were carried out by criminal elements who took advantage of the situation to commit sexual violence, emphasizing that such actions are not reflective of any legitimate cultural practices.

The Commissioner of Police strongly condemned the incident and reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all those involved are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The police also urged victims and witnesses to come forward with useful information, assuring that all submissions will be handled with strict confidentiality.

The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe.
