PHOTOS: Sultan of Sokoto Caliphate receives European Union delegation in Palace

Led and spoken for by EU Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Gautier Mignot, the diplomats said they were at the Sultan’s Palace to introduce and familiarise themselves with one of the revered institutions in world’s largest black nation.
A team of European Union members paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, in Gidan Sarki in Sokoto, Sokoto State, North West Nigeria on Monday May 5, 2025.

Led and spoken for by EU Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Gautier Mignot, the diplomats said they were at the Sultan’s Palace to introduce and familiarise themselves with one of the revered institutions in world’s largest black nation.
The EU Ambassador added that they were in the Seat of Caliphate, also, to launch a programme aimed at providing aid to children and the less privileged in the country, with particular reference to Sokoto State.
He assured the Sultan of total loyalty of his members and cooperation for their mission to be a successful one.
Responding, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar welcomed the team and assured them of his unflinching support as well as cooperation towards realizing the set goal.
The Sultan appealed for maximum cooperation from all and sundry, irrespective of religious or ethnic background, for achievable success of the programme.
Accompanying the Sultan to receive the diplomatic guests were senior councillors of his Sultan Council Sokoto including Wazirin Sokoto, His Royal Highness Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, Magajin Rafi Sokoto, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Barrister) Rilwanu Bello, Galadiman Gari Sokoto, His Royal Highness Alhaji Aliyu Attahiru Galadanci, and Sarkin Kilgori and District Head of Kilgori, Sokoto State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Jabbi Kilgori.
Also supporting the Sultan in hosting the guests were top ranking members of management of the council including the Secretary to the Sultanate Council Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’idu Maccido, Danburam Sokoto, and the Director Personnel Management of the Council, Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir, Wambai Sokoto, among others.
