PHOTO NEWS: New Emir of Ningi visits Sokoto, pays homage to Sultan

The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman, National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria (NTRCN), His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, received in audience the new Emir of Ningi, Bauchi State, North East Nigeria, Mai Martaba Alhaji Haruna Yanusa Muhammad Dan Yaya, in his Palace in Sokoto City, Sokoto State on Friday January 31, 2025.

The Sarkin Ningi, who could not hide his feeling about how the Sultan warmly received and greeted him with both hands, said he was pleased with the way he is leading and directing the affairs of traditional institution, the Muslim Ummah and the inter-religious community in Nigeria.

He then prayed that Allah would continue to strengthen Sarki Musulumi of Nigeria in achieving more peace, unity and development for people of various religious and ethnic backgrounds in the country.

Responding, the Sultan expressed his satisfaction with visit of the Emir of Ningi at this time, while also offering him a special advice he believes would be of immense benefits as the North East Emirate leader is new on the saddle to lead his people.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of some books the Sultan believes would be useful to the Ningi monarch, including the one titled “The Sultans of Sokoto” among others.

The two leaders later attended Jumah prayer together at the Sultan Muhammadu Bello Jumat Mosque, Sokoto, after the courtesy visit in the Palace.

The DEFENDER reports that Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar returned to Sokoto on Thursday January 30, after attending several events from an Islamiyyah programme in Katsina, the convocation of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, to a conference on improving the education of girls and providing them with jobs under the auspices of Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning And Empowerment (AGILE), held in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), among others between Tuesday January 28 and Thursday January 30.

He was accompanied to the AGILE event by the Emir of Kano, Mai Martaba Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, Emir of Argungu, Mai Martaba Alhaji Muhammadu Samaila Mera, Emir of Bauchi, Mai Martaba Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu, and other important traditional rulers including the Galadiman Geri Sokoto, His Royal Highness Alhaji Attahiru Aliyu Galadanci, and District Head of Kilgori, Sokoto State, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammadu Kilgori.
