PHOTO NEWS: Lagos Muritala Animashawun Family remembers, prays for Iya Saro, Iya Gbade

Prominent family members and friends of the Murtala Animashawun Family of Lagos converged on Lekki in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the Centre of Excellence on Saturday August 10, 2024 for the 55th and 5th remembrance prayers for late wife of the late Islamic cleric and broadcaster, Alhaja Safuratu Amori Awakan Animashawun a.k.a. Iya Saro, and her late daughter, Alhaja Rafiat Simisola Animashawun a.k.a. Iya Gbade, respectively.

Leading the event was the eldest surviving child of Murtala and Safuratu Animashawun and, younger sister of Rafiat, Alhaja Raheemat Adeshina, popularly called by her nephews and nieces as Aunty’s Rai, supported, eminently, by eldest grandchild of the Murtala and Safuratu Animashawun Family and former Minister of Communications, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd) and others

Friends of the family, who made it to the event as sighted by The DEFENDER, included former Military Governor of Old Ondo State (present day Ondo Ekiti States), Navy Commodore Olabode Ibiyinka George (Rtd); Renowned economist, Mr. Gbadebo Dallas; Veteran journalist and former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Culture during Marwa Military Administration, Mr. Adesola Ademola Macaulay and wife; Former Managing Director/CEO, defunct First African Trust Bank and sitting MD/CEO, Riggs Ventures West Africa PLC, Mr. Yomi Tokosi; Retired Treasuer, Lagos State Civil Service, Alhaji Bolaji Are; United States-based Alhaji Mohammed Akin Martins; Commissioner of Police Tajudeen Bakre (Rtd); Immediate Past Lagos State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Hakeem Fahm, among several others.
