PDP sponsored killings in Kwara reported, as Senator Rafiu Ibrahim identified as mastermind

Kukah’s secretaryship of the peace committee mediating in the peace accord between the two major contenders, President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku was further punctured in that he is a member of governing council of the American University of Nigeria owned by the PDP candidate, which, according to the sources, is reason the National Peace Committee is not trusted to be fair.  Its docility while PDP desperation lasted, they claimed, is another reason to show partisanship on the part of the committee.

Despite the signing of peace accord with the National Peace Committee headed by former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar by two major political parties contesting the general elections in Saturday 23 February and 9 March 2019, political thugs said to be sponsored by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) continue to unleash violence in of the country with particular mention of Kwara State, which has been reported to the state Police Command.

Nigerians, in a report published by The DEFENDER, had wondered why the peace committee refused to comment as PDP continued to show the reported level of desperation despite, according to them, that it was the same opposition that cried woes over everything including efforts of government to ensure violence free elections that has been fingered in all of the attacks recorded including the violent snatching of sensitive elections materials including the hijack of over 60 Card Readers in parts of the country which led to the mid-night postponement by one week of the much prepared elections on Saturday 16 February 2019.

It will be recalled that Secretary of the National Peace Committee and Bishop of Sokoto Catholic diocese, Rev. Matthew Kukah, had been exposed to be working for the PDP particularly as he allegedly took part in the reconciliation meeting between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his estranged vice, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital last year, not because of the physical but to further their gang up plans to manipulate National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the presidential election in favour of their candidate of the PDP, Atiku.

Following yet another case of violence on Wednesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) petitioned security agencies over the gruesome attack on the Party’s Senatorial Candidate for Kwara South, Hon. Lola Ashiru by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Rafiu Ibrahim.

The deadly attacks which occurred in Ojoku town in Kwara South Senatorial District of the State has left no less than eight people badly injured while two others have been shot dead.

It was also reported that the palace of the Olojoku of Ojoku, HRH Oba Abdulganiy Adegboyega Afolabi was not spared in the attacks, even as the royal father was also stoned, according to credible and verifiable independent accounts.

The APC, in the petition, reproduced as follows a transcript of a victim’s account of the attacks which says:

“Ojoku has been turned into a killing field with many displaced residents fleeing to neighboring communities for their safety. Eight people were shot, two others died. The army has rescued us and we are at Offa General Hospital.

“Olojoku palace was terribly attacked, our Kabiesi was stoned. I can tell you that myself and Ashiru escaped death by whiskers. It was a terrible experience. May Allah forgive the souls of the two that fell by their gunshots.

“Senator Rafiu Ibrahim was sighted running away from a hotel in the community moments after the attacks.

“I can confirm to you that he (Senator Ibrahim) masterminded this attack because I was there when Olojoku called him. His first statement was that it was APC fighting against APC. Olojoku cursed him in our present and said he will never get to that position again.”

“The APC hereby calls on security agencies to fish out and arrest Sen. Rafiu Ibrahim Adebayo who we learnt has since gone into hiding. Such murderous crimes cannot be swept under the carpet in the name of politics. The Senator and his accomplices must face the law for their heinous crimes.

“We commiserate with the Olojoku, families of the dead victims and the entire Ojoku community over the attacks. We also pray for speedy and full recovery of the injured.

“The Kwara electorate have had enough of this kind of retrogressive politics and attempt to suppress the will of the people. In the forthcoming elections the Kwara electorate are ready to vote for the Next Level of progress and development which the APC administration guarantees. No level of violence and intimidation will deter the Kwara electorate.”
