OWAYOKO: Osolo of Isolo orders closure of markets, shops as annual festival starts Wednesday

The Osolo and custodian of customs and traditions of Isolo Kingdom, in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba (Dr.) Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Osalade II, has declared that as the Owoyoko Festival of the ancient community commences on Wednesday September 11, 2024, all markets and shops be shut for the celebration.
Ayomide Michael, Special Assistant to the Osolo on Media and Administration, disclosed this in a statement sent to The DEFENDER on Tuesday.
According to the statement, “The annual Isolo festival popularly known as Owayoko will begin with special sacred tradition observation at the palace of Osolo of Isolo Kingdom.
“In view of the above, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr) Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Osalade II, Osolo of Isolo, Akure South local government orders all Markets and Shops in Isolo to be closed on Wednesday 11th September, 2024 to observe the special sacred tradition to mark the commencement of this year Owayoko festival.
“Osolo enjoins all residents of Isolo without exemption to maintain peace in their respective areas as the special tradition is observed.
“Oba Osalade II is committed to the progress of all residents and Isolo Kingdom in general.
“Isolo ko ni baje,” it said.
