Ondo NMA calls off doctors strike action

The Nigeria medical Association (NMA), Ondo State chapter, has suspended its strike, after intervention by the state lawmakers and other stakeholders.

The suspension was finalized on Wednesday, after the negotiation with House Committee on Health and executive members of the association, held at the Ondo State House of Assembly Complex, in Akure.

During the meeting, the NMA State Chairman, Dr Stella Adegbehingbe, thanked the House committee and other stakeholders, for their intervention.

She called on the state government to honour the terms of agreement reached with them regarding the payment of their outstanding salaries in line with their colleagues in other states.

In response to their request, Chairman, House Committee on Health, Dr Abiodun Faleye, pledged to reach out to necessary stakeholders with a view to ensure such similar issue would not happen again in the state.
