Ondo erupts in protest as APC youths show displeasure over automatic ticket

Youths of All Progressives Congress (APC), Thursday took to the major streets of Akure, the Ondo State capital protesting the imposition of Senatorial candidates in the three Senatorial Districts.

The state Youth Leader, Hon. Babalayo Olufayo while addressing the people at the state party Secretariat condemned the decision of the National Chairman, Comrades Adams Oshiomhole to declare automatic ticket for the three incumbent Senators.

Comrade Oshiomhole had earlier given Senator Ajayi Boroffice from Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Tayo Alasoadura_Central Senatorial and Senator Yele Omogunwa from Ondo South automatic tickets in compensation for their resolve to keep their membership of the party.

In a swift reaction, the Youths in their numbers carried placards with various inscriptions to kick against what they described as unpopular decision.

Some of the inscriptions read, “we need primary”, Oshiomhole oleee”, “Oshiomhole collected N1 billion from Boroffice”, “Tinubu, Oshiomhole go away from Ondo state”, among others.

Olufayo disclosed that a meeting was held in Abuja yesterday (Wednesday) where it was agreed that Direct primary be  applied for the Presidency, adding that this had been done in Ondo State.

According to him, it was resolved at the meeting that each state should go home and discuss the best option suitable for their people out of Direct, Indirect and Concensus and Ondo State, he said, resolved to adopt the indirect primary.

According to him, on getting back to Abuja, the table changed even as AD decampees which forms the minority resolved to go for Direct primary while the National Executive Council applied automatic ticket.

He therefore cautioned that members of the party in Ondo State shall restrict a situation where minority’s decision will over ride that of majority.
