Ohanaeze Ndigbo commends South East governors on new security outfit, ‘Ebubeagu’, cautions against recruiting wrong intakes

The governors of South East Nigeria have been commended in their initiative launching on Sunday April 11, 2021 the regional security outfit, Ebubeagu, with intent to tackle insecurity in the region.

This commendation was made by the Igbo socio-cultural and apex organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Wordwide, on Monday.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, according to a statement by its Director General, Strategic Planning and Implementations, Amb. Obizoba Chiemelu Tony, not only commended but also offered useful advice to the governors towards achieving success in the operation of the security outfit.

“The launching of South East Regional Security Outfit , EBUBEAGU, launched yesterday Sunday April 11, 2021 by the governors of South East Nigeria, is a right step in right direction and the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Wordwide commends the initiative.

“The region has been under insinuation that it abhours miscreants to the watch of its government and political leaders, while misguided youths under the illusion of brainwash by a self-centered secessionist element wreck their havoc all over the place with seeming little or nothing done to check the evil.

“With the EBUBEAGU coming as a legitimate initiative of governments, it can now begin to be uhuru for the South East as there will be a down-to-the-art and quicker security measure to thame terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities including cultism in the potentially technology giant region.

“The Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Wordwide will, however, bring to the attention of the governors that, while they have done the right thing in forming the regional security network, it is important to liaise with the security architectures of the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the resilient Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari that there may be peace, security and development in the region.

“They should also take to cognizance the need to go extra mile in the recruitment system into the EBUBEAGU to be sure that the very miscreants and criminals they set up the initiative to curb will not get their way into the system thereby using it to compromise the security architecture of the South East region.

“Wishing the governors and all the people of the South East the best,” the Ohanaeze Ndigbo said in the statement.
