Ogun Police assures residents of adequate security at Sallah

The Ogun State Police Command has assured residents of the State that it has put a robust security arrangement in place, which will ensure a hitch free Sallah celebration, during the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir festivity.

This assurance was contained in a statement by spokesman of the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.

In view of this, “all the Area commanders and Divisional police officers have been put on red alert and directed to embark on 24hrs Surveillance patrol of their area in order to ward off the criminal elements within their jurisdiction,” the Police said.

He said, “In addition, the Commissioner of Police Cp Ahmed Iliyasu has also ordered a strategic deployment of men from special units such as FSARS, PMF, and Tactical Response and Intelligence Units; Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Sections to nip in the bud any violent crime that may want to rear its ugly head. 24hrs patrols have also been ordered around various praying ground as well as event/recreation centres across the State.

“Similarly, men from bomb disposal unit have been directed to sweep all the prayer ground across the length and breadth of the State to forestall any ugly occurrence.

“The Commissioner of Police while felicitating with Muslim faithful and the good people of Ogun State enjoined them to reflect on the reasons for the Eidl Kabir celebration and be good ambassadors of Islam by ensuring peace at all times.

“He also appealed to members of the public to alert the Police whenever/wherever they noticed any strange/suspicious faces, gathering or movement in their domain in order to assist the security agencies to perform their duties adequately, as security is everybody’s business.”
