Why Obasanjo, Danjuma, Jonathan, Ekweremadu, others must face treason charges for their evil plots against Nigeria
By Prince Ade
The way some elder statesmen in the country are using violent statements to drive home political points they, hypocritically, deny believing in is not just worrisome but calls for action on the part of the government.
No elder is elderly to Nigeria. Yes, there are Nigerian elders but Nigeria is bigger than anybody. If that is the case and some elders cannot respect the sovereignty of Nigeria and so accord it the right to be in peace, then there will be no need for security and armed forces of the country they want to destroy to accord them any respect. They should be arrested and treated as they deserve.
Unfortunately for these people and even the young ones they have also inspired negatively to do things the wrong way they do, they have persistently failed to realise that they created what they call insecurity in the land for which they are working hard to damage the person and government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
For example, they do not have one reason they can adduce to stop Buhari from contesting 2019 and so the best thing for them to do is create one if not many reasons to justify their unnecessary offensives. They have engaged in sponsoring dangerous rumours, hate speeches and fake news. They know that through these three evils the already charged cosmopolitan society of many tribes, languages and multireligions and political biases, they can successfully set the people against themselves.
But how many Nigeria’s other patriotic elders and youths realise and understand this? How many of them know that it is for these that Olusegun Obasanjo wants to turn Nigerians against Buhari under the unjustified claim of “rescuing Nigeria” from the “failed government” of Buhari? How many of these innocent citizens have ever asked Obasanjo to, with copious and evident examples explain how Buhari has failed? All Nigerian roads are under reconstruction and the works are ongoing. Is this the meaning of failure? How many roads did Obasanjo build in his time? Where is the N300 billion Lagos-Ibadan road contract money allegedly lost under Obasanjo? Where is the $16 billion electricity money spent to keep Nigerians in perpetual darkness? Now Buhari has done not only Lagos-Ibadan Road but many others and has done electricity. Is that how Buhari has failed? Truth is, the failure of Buhari is his leniency for Obasanjo and Jonathan over their wicked corruption, which he must now stop not to be called a failure.
Unfortunately, too, observers have revealed the calibre of people who are involved in this offensive put forward against Nigeria by the Obasanjo’s group to be made up of virtually all retired Generals who are former Military Heads of State or Presidents. They also have some religious leaders among who is obviously Bishop Matthew Kukah. Recall Kukah has remained anti-Buhari public speaker since the very early days of the Buhari administration when he among some Peace Commission members visited the then fresh President and asked him to stop anti-corruption fight but he refused. Leaders like Obasanjo, Kukah and, lately, TY Danjuma should be seen saying no less a word of dignity. But now that they have orchestrated everything that is no less than incitement of conflict against Nigeria thinking they are at war with Buhar I although for no reason, do they still deserve the status of dignity that is ascribed to them?
As a result of their political songs and drums of war, yet they claim not to be politicians, they have overstretched our security and military. Yet they complain the military connive with killers, a figment of imagination they arrived at in situation when abduction occur in place there are no security presence. Which country of the developed world have security presence in every house or street? They enjoy peace because the people and their political leader (?) don’t make reckless statements capable of playing their security under stress.
Now the government, security agencies and armed forces of this country must, as a matter of urgency, place all of those reckless statements makers and plots under surveillance with a view to arresting and prosecuting them appropriately under the laws before they eventually set the country on fire. The time of hunger is not this time as they claim. The time of hunger is during crisis or war when we have no way and peace to find food for ourselves and families to feed. That time any media organisation presently helping promote them will have no peace of mind to open shop. Even those retired Generals causing these troubles because their grip on Nigerian economy is about to be placed under check by Buhari will look to their back and will find no solder to command. Not even Danjuma who has finally issued the order calling to arms conflict among Nigerians will be found at the lead and, very correctly so, he will not have any of his children to partake in the war that is calling to on behalf of the Obasanjo’s Third Force. Then why doing it?
When did attempt to democratically unseat a sitting President become a struggle of war? There is need for action now! They deserved it. They sponsored Niger Delta Avengers (from Jonathan, Ike Ekweremadu’s end), they sponsored IPOB (Ekweremadu and co), they are making Boko Haram to see themselves as anythibg and recently they were involved in misrepresentation of the same terrorism to incite the rest of Nigerians to see an entire Hausa/Fulani race and killers and have tried to make Buhari therefore declare them, his own ethnic group in the country, as terrorists.
Let’s face it, if Buhari declares his entire Hausa/Fulani ethnic group terrorists like Prof. Woke Soyinka, Afenifere’s Ayo Adebanjo, unreasonable Yinka Odumakin, and some Igbo leaders are wanting him to do, which of the two other tribes they can prove will absorb him as their member? Yoruba or Igbo? The Southerners of this country need to fear Allah because, when OPC was disturbing the peace of Nigeria killing Hausa in Lagos just because they believe it was Hausa that was in power that led to the death of MKO Abiola and other evils they did, how many Hausa people called on President Obasanjo to declare the entire Yoruba Race a terrorist group? How many Hausa called for declaration of Niger Delta as terrorist region when Avengers were bombing Nigeria’s own oil installations thereby plunging the country into economic recession? How many called for Igbo to be declared as terrorists in the rage of IPOB and MASSOB? Dr. Orji Uzor Kali is right on his call for Obasanjo’s arrest. Danjuma, others must be joined.
Finally, this country is not old Sudan so it will not break. Nigeria is neither Rwanda nor Somalia, so it will not devolve into genocide. What can surely happen to Nigeria is that, all of those who are working hard to make an old Sudan, Rwanda and Somalia out of Nigeria, will be clamped down upon, arrested and made to face the barrels of law for their treason against the country.
