“In fact, Nasir is beginning to inch over Kwankwaso. I always thought that maybe after Buhari Kwankwaso will be the one in that space but Nasir is beginning to stay in that space now. I don’t know how he does it.”

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently President of Nigeria of Nigeria has not been promised a second term by anyone and so he should use the one term he has to fix the country.

These were the words of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Mr. Segun Showunmi, as captured in a video showing his MIC ON interview, recently, with Seun Okinbaloye.

In the interview watched by The DEFENDER, Sowunmi revealed what could become the end result for Tinubu’s taking former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai for granted.

He said the former governor is the man he sees at the top echelon of political arena especially in Northern Nigeria after former President Muhammadu Buhari.

This global online newspaper reports that Tinubu and All Progressives Congress (APC)’s strategy is to destroy not only El-Rufai but also former President Muhammadu Buhari reason, according to our general views of Nigerians, for all the canes of inheriting a damaged economy, country of complicated problems while exonerating Tinubu from all the unprecedented hardship, hunger and poverty level that his failed policies on fuel subsidy removal and naira floating have caused the country.

Another wing of the destructive propaganda they deployed targeting El-Rufai is what is described the cheap blackmail of him being aggrieved because he was not given appointment, which El-Rufai himself has debunked.

The president, who is said to be personally responsible for all the games that played out at the National Assembly during the ministerial nominees screening to unjustifiably rubbish the same Nasir El-Rufai he begged to join his government, has however been given a candid advice by Showunmi on why El-Rufai is not the type to be taken for granted by anyone.

“You can take anybody you like for granted. But you cannot take a disruptor like Nasir for granted. How do you think Nasir is happy trying to destroy a government he helped bring about? He can never be.

“That is not the reason. But when you don’t treat people well, when you make light of their efforts, what you do is that you try and tell them, “Okay, go and do whatever else you like.”

“And “whatever else you like” in politics is to work as much as they can against you, and if you know what you are doing, you must be careful that the people that are sitting on your table, eating fish and chips with you are telling you “All is well”. All may not be that well.

“Yeah! We go around and we know that some people respect him.. I can tell you for almost tree, Nasir may end up being the man in this country who will inherit that energy of Buhari after Buhari, because the people that we speak to around, especially in the far North those areas where Buhari used to have large votes, they are hopeful on Nasir. Yeah!” He boastfully said.

According to the politician, “In fact, Nasir is beginning to inch over Kwankwaso. I always thought that maybe after Buhari Kwankwaso will be the one in that space but Nasir is beginning to stay in that space now. I don’t know how he does it.”

Asked if that will not be dangerous for Bola Tinubu’s (2027 ambition), Segun Showunmi said, “I don’t know whether it’s dangerous for Bola Tinubu. If Bola Tinubu is a One-Term-President (OTP), how is that dangerous for him?

“Did you not give him the opportunity to serve? Are they not going to list his name among past presidents if he leaves now? There is nothing dangerous for him, nobody has promised him a second term.

“God has not even promised him the next morning just like he has not promised the rest of us. If people are sentimental about whether he would get a second term, I am not interested in that.

“I am interested in him fixing the country for this one term he has abd being the best version of himself,” he said.
