A former Minister of Communications, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), has congratulated Defender Media Limited on the launch of The DEFENDER Nigeria TV YouTube channel, describing the organisation as a trusted platform for truth-driven journalism.

The YouTube TV channel was officially launched in the early hours of Saturday, January 10, 2026, attracting reactions from eminent personalities within and outside Nigeria.
General Olanrewaju, who served as Minister of Communications during the period that witnessed deregulation of the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) and the foundation of today’s wireless telecommunications system in the country, praised The DEFENDER for its commitment to public-interest reporting.
In a congratulatory message sent to the fast-growing online media conglomerate, the retired Army General said Defender Media has distinguished itself as a credible source of reliable news.
“This is the beginning of a new phase and a digital turning point for The DEFENDER,” he said. “If you want to find the truth concerning public interest, you can get it from the stable of Defender Media.”
General Olanrewaju, whose military career spanned several strategic roles—including participation in the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970), Corps Commander of Artillery in Kaduna, Air Defence Brigade Commander in Akure, Acting Military Governor of the old Ondo State (now Ondo and Ekiti states), Deputy Defence Adviser in Moscow, Russia, and member of the Provisional Ruling Council (PRC)—has also demonstrated support for The DEFENDER Newspaper as the official newspaper of his household.
The former minister, who is also a trustee of the De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, a socio-cultural organisation of Lagos State indigenes, specifically commended the publisher of the media organisation.
“Congratulations, Mr Bashir Adefaka, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Defender Media,” he added.
The launch of The DEFENDER Nigeria TV YouTube channel marks the company’s expansion into broadcast-focused digital media, further strengthening its presence in Nigeria’s evolving media landscape.
The DEFENDER Newspaper, now expanding into digital television stable, is a member of Pan-African Movement Forum headquartered in The Gambia.
