Nigerian Muslim Ummah loses immediate past FOMWAN Amirah, Omoti, to death at 63

Death has been announced of the immediate past Amirah of Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Hajiya Amina Omoti.

She died on Saturday 27 April 2019 in Benin City, Edo State capital, where she breathed her last at the age of 63.

Hajiya Omoti, whose death news was publicly broken by the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) at Sunday’s University of Lagos Muslim Alumni’s 25th Pre-Ramadan Lecture in Lagos, has since same Sunday 28 April been buried in accordance to Islamic rites.

Hajiya Omoti, a widow since 2016, was Vice Principal of Benin Technical College, Edo State where she left indelible mark.

The ex-FOWMAN Leader was a Delegate at the 2014 National Confab and was also appointed as a member of the General Purpose Committee (GPC) of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

Aside her work for the nation as delete at National conferences, history particularly of the Nigerian Muslim Ummah will have a rich place for Hajiya Omoti as the Amirah when the long started building of FOMWAN Mosque in Utako District of Abuja, valued at N100 million was eventually completed and handed over in 2017 by the Aliko Dangote Foundation, building of which was taken over by the foundation following an appeal made by FOMWAN to the President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
