Sen. Adamu wins third term

Sen. Abdullahi Adamu of All Progressives Congress (APC) was on Monday declared the winner of Nasarawa West Senatorial District election with 115,298 votes in the election held on Saturday.

Adamu, a former governor of the state, defeated his close rival, Alhaji Bala Ahmed Aliyu of PDP, who scored 85,615 to return to the Senate for a third term.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Ahmed Yakubu, made the declaration in Keffi.

The returning officer said that the total votes cast was 238,000, valid votes was 232,494 and the rejected votes was 5,506.

Yakubu said that the number of registered voters was 696,877 and accredited voters were 249,877.

“Sen. Abdullahi Adamu of APC scored 115,298 votes,Alhaji Bala Ahmed Aliyu of PDP scored 85,615 votes, while Dr. K’tso Nghargbu of APGA scored 28,857 votes.

“By the power conferred on me as the Returning Officer of this election, I, Prof. Ahmed Yakubu, certify that Sen. Abdullahi Adamu of APC having satisfied the requirements of law and secured the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,’’ he said.

APC’s Gbajabiamila wins Surulere Constituency 1, PDP wins Constituency ll

Mr Femi Gbajabiamila of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) and Mr Olatunji Soyinka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have emerged winners at Surulere Federal Constituencies l and ll respectively, in the House of Representatives elections held on Feb. 23.

Prof. Adetola Daramola, the INEC Returning Officer for the Feb. 23 House of Representatives poll for Surulere Federal Constituency 1, declared the result for the constituency at INEC’s collation centre in Surulere at 1.39. a.m on Monday.

According to her, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila of APC emerged winner with 14,617 votes while Mr Adewara Michael of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 8085 votes.

Mr Folami Abiola of Alliance for Democracy (AD) came third with 97 votes while Ms Oriyomi Barbara of the African Democratic Congress of (ADC) came fourth with 71 votes

“At the end of voting, Femi Gbajabiamila of APC has satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes and is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected, ” she said.

At 3.a.m, Prof. Ade Ibiwoye, INEC Returning Officer for Surulere Federal Constituency ll, declared Mr Olatunji Soyinka of PDP winner with 19,950 votes while Mr Lanre Okunlola of APC came second with 17,910 votes.

Mrs Ferguson Blessing of (ANP) came third with 628 votes.

“Olatunji Soyinka, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected, ” Ibiwoye said.

Dino Melaye wins Kogi West Senate seat

Controversial Senenator, Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party ((PDP) has been declared winner of the Kogi West Senatorial election held on Feb. 23.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Emmanuel Bala announced in the early hours of Monday in Lokoja that Melaye polled 85, 395 votes to defeat Sen. Smart Adeyemi of the APC who scored 66, 901 votes.

Also, Alhaji Abdulkarim Isah – Wambai of the APC has been declared winner of the House of Representatives election for Lokoja-Koto federal constituency.

The returning officer, Prof. Muhammed Suleiman said that Wambai scored 37, 656 votes to beat Mr Shaba Ibrahim of PDP who polled 33,662 votes.

APC wins two Senatorial Seats in Kano

All Progressives Congress APC has won Kano North and South Senatorial Seats in Kano state.

The Chairman Senate committee on works and (APC) candidate Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya beat Abdullahi Sani Togo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win Kano South Senatorial Ticket.

Gaya polled 319,004 to defeat the PDP candidate who scored 217,520.

In Kano North Senatorial, Senator Barau Jibrin of APC won with 286,419 to beat the PDP candidate Ahmed Garba Bichi who scored 155,638 votes.

Meanwhile, the result of Kano Central Senatorial election is being awaited as collation is still in progress as at the time of filing the report.

Ajimobi loses senatorial bid to PDP

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kola Balogun, has been declared the winner of the Oyo South senatorial district.

Mr Balogun saw off contest from his closest rival, Abiola Ajimobi, of the All Progressive Congress, with a vote difference of 13,502.

The PDP candidate ended the contest with a total of 105,720 votes while the candidate of the APC had 92,217 votes.

This declaration was made Monday morning by the returning officer of the district, Wole Akinsola, at the INEC collation centre office located in Ibadan North LGA.

PREMIUM TIMES had earlier announced how Mr Ajimobi lost in all four of the first declared LGA results

In total, Mr Ajimobi won in three of the local governments in the senatorial district. Mr Balogun won the remaining six.

Mr Ajimobi won in Ibadan Southwest, Ibarapa Central and Ido.

Mr Balogun won in Ibadan North, Ibadan Northwest, Ibadan Northeast, Ibadan Southeast, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa East.

The incumbent senator representing the district, Soji Akanbi, who contested on the platform of ADC, finished behind the duo, in third place.

Teslim Folarin wins Oyo Central for APC

Senator Teslim Folarin, a former Senate Leader and APC Senatorial Candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District has emerged winner of the last senatorial election in the district.

Prof. Peter Falayi from University of Ibadan, who is the returning officer of Oyo Central Senatorial District made the announcement in Ibadan on Monday morning.

Falayi declared Folarin winner having polled 91,080 to defeat his closest rival Chief Bisi Ilaka of PDP who polled 83,600.

The incumbent Senator of the district on the platform of ADC, Monsurat Sunmonu polled 41, 657 while Hon Temitope Olatoye of ADP polled 41,377.

The results which was announced amid heavy security presence was witnessed and signed by APC, PDP, ADC and ADP agents

This is the third time the former Senate leader would be elected into the Red chamber of the National Assembly.

He was earlier in the red chamber in 2003 and 2007.
